Hey Lis, I sure miss your voice!! Last week was the sentencing and I know I don't need to tell you, but others will want to know. The girl that killed you got 18 years prison-no parole. 15 years probation after that. It was so hard for your mother and me to talk about you, but we did. Nothing they did can bring you back, so no one won Thursday, but at least she won't be able to get in a car drunk and possibly kill another person like you,(not that there is anyone out there like you!) Maybe it will stop someone else too! Miss you, eveything is hard still, even the good things happening to the family are hard. love you & miss you Dad

I wanted to let Melissa's family know that they're in my thoughts. Not a day has gone by that I don't think about Melissa. I am thankful to have known such a vibrant, fun, caring person and I thank her for the memories she has left me and for the inspiration she gives me. I also thank you for maintaining her website and allowing all of us to use it in our healing processes. It has been good to see her pictures and the smile on her face. Those are the memories I will continue to cherish. I wish you all the support, especially in these hard days and thank you for all you continue to do for us.

My Melissa, I knew Christmas would be hard without you here. I expected valentines day to s***, but what I NEVER could have expected was just how hard your golden birthday was. I miss you so very much and want to talk to you every single day I get up. If I could just hear your "Hi MOM" on my phone again or hold you, oh what I would give to hold you again. The area businesses in Walkers Point are addressing the city council on Tuesday April 7th to seek approval for a block party to be held this Memorial Day. We are honoring those we have lost and promoting unity within our neighborhood. We are going to use the proceeds to address security issues (installing cameras which panasonic has graciously offered for free). It would be extremely beneficial to our cause if we have the support of the Ahren family. Wish us luck...
